About Coherence

On the night of an astrological anomaly, eight friends at a dinner party experience a troubling chain of reality bending events. Part cerebral sci-fi and part relationship drama, COHERENCE is a tightly focused, intimately shot film that quickly ratchets up with tension and mystery.

  • Emily Foxler - "Em"
    Emily Foxler was born and raised in Sweden. She’s played leading roles in Killer Pad, Grizzly Park and The Lost Tribe and had a supporting role in the award winning indie comedy 16 To Life, as well as the New Line feature Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. She is seen regularly on television in shows such as CSI: Miami, Burn Notice, Without A Trace, Bones, N.C.I.S, and Human Target among others, and played the recurring role of Sister Nicci in Legend of the Seeker. She also played “Emily” in the season 5 finale of Mad Men.
  • Nicholas Brendon - "Mike"
    Nicholas Brendan is known to many fans as Xander Harris on the megahit show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and is seen in recurring roles on Criminal Minds and Private Practice. He starred alongside Bradley Cooper in the much loved Kitchen Confidential and originated the starring role in David Sedaris’s Santaland Diaries for the stage.
  • Alex Manugian - "Amir"
    Alex Manugian has been steadily acting and writing since being cast as an unlikely featured member of David Fincher's Fight Club. He and Jim Byrkit have teamed to write a number of feature scripts and TV pilots, and to develop Fraggle Rock for Jim Henson Productions. Alex also voiced the role of Spoons in the Oscar-winning animated feature Rango.
  • Hugo Armstrong - "Hugh"
    Hugo Armstrong is highly visible staple of the Los Angeles theatre scene, and a four-time Ovation Award winner for work including Medea at UCLAlive and Waiting for Godot at the Mark Taper Forum. He has appeared in numerous movies and television shows such as Lay the Favorite, Wendell and Vinnie, Love in the Time of Monsters, Monk, Criminal Minds and OK, Good.
  • Maury Sterling - "Kevin"
    Maury Sterling is a founding member of the award-winning Buffalo Nights Theatre Company of Santa Monica. He moves seamlessly between action movies and the Shakespearean stage. Maury’s film credits include The A-Team, Smokin’ Aces, The Illusion, Hart’s War, Impostor, Bulletproof, and Outbreak. TV credits include the recurring role of Max in Homeland, the upcoming Longmire, and many more.
  • Elizabeth Gracen - "Beth"
    A former Miss America and veteran of many television and film productions, Elizabeth is best known for her work on the long-running Highlander- the Series and the title character in the spin-off, Highlander: The Raven. She is a filmmaker in her own right and runs a production company that focuses on positive role models for young women.
  • Lauren Maher - "Laurie"
    Lauren Maher might be best known as the Jack Sparrow-slapping wench Scarlett in the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. She has appeared onstage in New York, London and Los Angeles, including roles in Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, The Great White Hope, and Tony Kushner’s The Illusion. Besides her appearance in Radiohead's “House of Cards” music video, prominent projects include Pat O’Neill’s festival favorite Decay of Fiction.
  • Lorene Scafaria - "Lee"
    Lorene Scafaria hails from New Jersey where she dabbled in acting, improv, and community college. She previously wrote the screenplay for Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist as well as wrote and directed the film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World starring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley. She most recently worked on the show Ben and Kate and directed an episode of New Girl for Fox.

Filmmakers

  • James Ward Byrkit - Writer/Director
    James Ward Byrkit comes from a background in theater and music, mixed with an obsession with graphic arts. As a designer, he visualized conceptual spectacles for his longtime creative cohort, director Gore Verbinski. Since childhood, Jim has been concocting strange tales that weave fantasy elements with realistically-toned storytelling. Coherence is his first directed feature film.
  • Lene Bausager - Producer
    Lene Bausager is an Oscar-nominated film producer who works out of her London-based production office Ugly Duckling Films. She produced Flashbacks of Fool starring Daniel Craig, the psychological horror story The Broken, and the Sean Ellis coming-of-age tale Cashback. She is a veteran producer of numerous commercials, music videos, web series, Mexican car races, and other creative ventures.
